How to do business

I was not sure about getting business cards printed. It felt like I was taking myself a bit too seriously. I am after all, just a housewife who waffles on to anyone who will listen; but I am forever graffiti-ing 'Mum in the South' on napkins and sweet wrappers so people I meet can read my stuff.

A recent article in the Telegraph discussed the ‘right’ time to have a baby. John Mirowsky, a sociologist from the university of Texas, believes that ’29 is the optimum age to birth if you want to feel fantastic in middle age and that 31 is the very “best age” to birth health-wise but also because social pressures on young mums “greatly outweighs the bio-developmental advantages of youthful organs”.’ Whatever that means.

Is there any excuse for a 'mummy-tummy'?

So apparently ‘Motherhood lends a cloak of virtue to bad habits’ according to an article in The Times. It suggests we use our babies as an excuse for not exercising – “Who would give the babies their breakfast if Mummy was at the gym working on her glutes?”

So this year I resolved that I was no longer going to be the mum who looked like she had been dug up on the school run. I was NOT going to be the late, sweaty, shouting, swearing woman dropping poo bags and fluffy polo's and 'Sorry I forgot your reading bag, dinner money, PE kit, homework, shoes' any longer.

Things I won't miss about Christmas

I know it’s a bit ‘Grinchy’ of me, but I am awfully pleased the Christmas period is over. The presents, the trimmings the singing, the trappings. The ribbons, the tinsel, the packages and wrappings. I opened the loft door and slung it all in with great gusto on the 26th Dec. In no particular order, these are the things I won’t miss:
